Rockwood’s Allison Grafton Wins Gold Stevie® Award in 2017 Stevie Awards for Women in Business

We’re delighted to announce that Rockwood’s Allison Grafton has been named the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year – Canada category in the 14th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organizations they run.  All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The 2017 awards received entries from 25 nations and territories.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners during a dinner event attended by more than 500 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

More than 1,500 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year, among others.  Calgary-based Rockwood and its president, Allison Grafton, won the sole gold medal for Female Entrepreneur of the Year – Canada.

Said Allison, “I am ever thankful to my team for supporting me and letting me shine. I’m grateful for all of our Rockwood clients that have given us the privilege of building their dream homes. And finally, I am ever appreciative of my family who stands by me in all that I do.”

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 170 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process. Judges’ comments for this campaign included, “Ms. Grafton has been rightfully well recognized for outstanding business growth and leadership. It is notable that much of that growth came at a particularly difficult time in this sector within the Calgary market. That takes vision and commitment!” And “I admire the applicant's bravery and tenacity in following her own instincts, even in the face of adversity.”

“The judges were so impressed with the accomplishments of all of the Stevie Award-winning women and organizations. The 2017 Stevie Awards for Women in Business received a record number of nominations and had a record number of ceremony attendees,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards. “We congratulate all of this year’s Grand, Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners for their achievements.”
