2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Rockwood. In addition to its Villas at Aspen Heights development and a number of innovative custom homes, Calgary’s premiere luxury homebuilder is also embarking on a new project in Calgary’s inner city. Situated on one of Calgary’s historic sites, a former sandstone school built in 1912, Rockwood is set to build a suite of luxury flats amidst what will be Calgary’s newest arts and cultural hub.
The arts complex, which will be situated in the community of Calgary South, is being developed by cSPACE, a social enterprise dedicated to supporting communities of artists, non-profits and entrepreneurs working in the creative and culture sector.
Reid Henry, president and CEO of cSPACE, welcomed Rockwood Custom Homes at the project launch on May 13th, “It took over 18 months of searching across Canada for the right partner to help us achieve our broader city-building vision. My Board and I are thrilled about where we have landed with our Calgary-based community builder who is visionary, talented and inspiring.”
Rockwood is thrilled to work with cSPACE on this unique and stand-out project—a legacy community in what’s sure to be one of Calgary’s premiere arts and cultural spaces.
cSPACE is taking the lead in redeveloping a the three-acre, inner-city site, at the heart of which will be a mixed-use, multi-tenant arts and community hub. Residential developments will then be situated on the west and east sides of the complex.
Rockwood Custom Homes is currently planning to build 21 expansive, single-level flats in the west corner of the project site. Dubbed the Residences of King Edward, the flats will be designed to appeal to a sophisticated mix of discriminating individuals looking for low-maintenance, luxury residences in one of Calgary’s vibrant, inner-city communities.
President of Rockwood, Allison Grafton, is sure that the Residences of King Edward will be very well-received when they come on the market, “The opportunity for Rockwood to take part in Calgary’s first master-planned, arts-based community is very exciting. Our vision is to create exclusive luxury flats—the Residences of King Edward—that honour the historic site while introducing modern elements that blend seamlessly with the rest of the cSPACE vision for the development. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live amidst an arts and cultural centre constructed on one of Calgary’s historic sites. Our luxury flats will have scenic views of downtown and afford its residents all the benefits of inner-city living.”
